Messaging
Schoolysoft’s internal messaging enables private exchanges between members of the school: staff and parents.
Features
- Inbox: the Messages page shows the list of your conversations, most recent first.
- New message: the New message button opens a window where you pick one or more recipients, enter a subject, and write your message.
- Conversations: each exchange continues as a thread, with the full message history.
- Read receipts: on your own messages, checkmarks show whether they have been sent and then read by the recipient(s).
- Unread counter: the total number of unread messages is shown at the top of the inbox, and each conversation with unread messages carries its own badge.
What messaging does not do (today)
- No attachments: messages are text only.
- No e-mail notification when a message is received. The corresponding preference exists under My notifications -> Preferences, but no e-mail is sent at this time.
- No bulk sending or targeting by class or grade level. To broadcast information to a group (a class, a grade level, the whole school), use the Circulars module.
- No conversation archiving: all conversations remain visible in the inbox.
Who can message whom?
From messaging, search for your correspondent among the school’s staff and parents: the Recipients field suggests matches as you type.
