Justifying an Absence (Parent Guide)
Accessing the Portal
Log in at app.schoolysoft.com with your credentials. This action is reserved for the pupil’s verified legal guardian.
Viewing Absences
Menu My Attendance (or, from your children’s space, the Absences section). Each absence shows a status badge: Unjustified (neutral tone, not red), Pending, Justified, Declined or Expired.
Submitting a Justification
- On the row of an absence with status Unjustified, click the Justify link.
- Choose the reason.
- Write an explanation (optional).
- Attach supporting documentation if available (medical certificate, summons…) — PDF or image, 8 MB maximum.
- Click Submit.
A confirmation message appears: “Justification submitted — awaiting validation.”
Deadline
You have 5 working days after the date of the absence to submit a justification. This deadline is fixed and does not depend on the school’s settings. Past this deadline, an expiration message is shown and the submission form is disabled; the absence moves to status Expired.
Tracking Your Justification
After submission, the status changes to Pending. Administration or the student welfare officer validates or declines the request from their validation queue; a message may be attached to a decline.
If You Are Not the Legal Guardian
If your account is not recognised as the legal guardian of the pupil concerned, submission is refused with the message: “You are not the legal guardian of this pupil.”
