“Service temporarily unavailable” overlay

When the Schoolysoft API is temporarily inaccessible (restart, maintenance, network incident), an overlay is displayed across the entire interface to inform the user.

Schoolysoft unavailability overlay
The overlay blocks the interface and indicates that recovery is automatic.

What happens

  • The overlay appears automatically as soon as the API stops responding.
  • No action is required on your part. Schoolysoft monitors the service in the background.
  • As soon as the API is available again (checked via /health/ready), the overlay disappears and the interface resumes normally.

Typical duration

Planned service interruptions (updates, maintenance) are announced on status.schoolysoft.com. Most last less than 2 minutes.

What to do during the outage

  1. Wait — recovery is automatic; there is no need to refresh the page.
  2. Check status.schoolysoft.com for the cause and estimated duration.
  3. If the overlay persists for more than 10 minutes with no maintenance announcement, contact support@schoolysoft.com.

If the overlay does not disappear

First check your internet connection. If your connection is working but the overlay remains:

  1. Refresh the page manually (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R).
  2. Clear your browser cache if the problem persists.
  3. Report the incident to support@schoolysoft.com with the time it appeared and your browser details.

The overlay does not mean your data has been lost. All operations in progress at the time of the interruption are preserved — unsent forms remain in your browser.
