Disciplinary sanctions
Types of sanctions
Six sanction types are available, each independently paired with a level from N1 to N5:
| Sanction | Description |
|---|---|
| Warning | First formal reminder |
| Additional work | Extra work given as a sanction |
| Detention | Detention after school hours |
| Temporary exclusion (class) | Exclusion from a lesson, duration in days |
| Temporary exclusion | Exclusion from the school, duration in days |
| Permanent exclusion | Exclusion with no duration limit |
There is no “Formal reprimand” type in the application. Issuing a sanction does not automatically send an e-mail to parents: the systematic notification is triggered when the disciplinary event is reported (see Report an event), not by the sanction itself.
The application does not enforce any maximum exclusion duration, and permanent exclusion can be selected directly from an event’s record. As good practice, it is nonetheless recommended to reserve permanent exclusion for situations that have gone through the disciplinary panel procedure — the application does not technically require it.
Issuing a sanction never creates an absence automatically, even for an exclusion.
Issue a sanction
From a disciplinary event’s record, in the Issue a sanction section — only one sanction per event:
- Choose the level (N1 to N5) and the type.
- Fill in the duration in days if relevant (optional).
- Write the grounds (10 to 2000 characters, required).
Disciplinary panel
The disciplinary panel is a procedure, not a sanction type: it allows the most serious situations to be formally examined, with a recorded decision. See The disciplinary panel for the full process.
Tracking the disciplinary record
A pupil’s sanction history is visible to management, administrators, and the pastoral team (Head of Year).
